2. Ripping and storage of your data

EMS stores your media data in its own dedicated data center, connected to the world via a 155MBit fibre optic line. Speedy ingestion, processing and delivery of your contents can thus be guaranteed.

Our Mediadata Management Program (MMP), your web-based logistics center, provides access to your product and insight into the current status of processing at all times.

3. Quality assurance by data examination

We treat your data as scrupulously as if it were our own. From the first reconciliation of the supplied metadata against submitted audio-/video assets up to the final sound check and clearance by the Wavealyzer, our digital stethoscope. Without approval of that quality control no audio product can pass through to delivery.

4. Encoding media formats

Our system produces the media format/s required for each of your contracting destinations in short order, storing the transcoded content in our data center for later iterations. Via the MMP you can have your digital goods delivered exactly to your deals' necessities. As new business relationships emerge, you can react flexibly. Your EMS is fit to adapt to any new challenge as it arises.

Worldwide, more than 100 destinations are connected to the EMS; setting up delivery to parties you have a deal with is feasible in short order. Getting new accounts up and running works as smoothly with EMS as living up to your deals' everyday requirements. Our 155Mbit fibre optic uplink helps ensure punctual deliveries virtually independent of volume to be transmitted. Should a scenario of 'too much at once' ever arise, we will coordinate transport on hard drive storage with you. Either way - your content will reach its destination; a statement for which we readily vouch. Review our complete list of connected shops and other destinations (PDF download).

Expansion for e books set to launch

Expansion for e books set to launch

10th August 2010 | EMS GmbH has successfully expanded its range of services associated with ripping, encoding and delivering media content to now include the e books sector. The first client to make use of this capacity is Bookwire, an e book distributor.

The contract launching this cooperative effort was signed and sealed at the Leipzig Book Fair. The contract signed with this digital books distributor, headquartered in the town of Offenbach, Germany, demonstrates the forward-looking, open concept embodied in the EMS range. Encoding Management Service is laid out so that new media formats can be integrated without difficulty. The required e book specifications were defined and tested in close collaboration between the two partners. Quality, security and experience were factors persuading Bookwire that the Encoding Management Service spectrum was exactly what they needed.

“We are happy that we have found in the EMS team a partner which can handle the entire technical process chain for us. We can place our undivided trust in them, based on the firm’s many years of experience. This gives us the freedom we need to concentrate fully on our clients’ needs and on nationwide e book distribution,” notes Jens Klingelhöfer, the Bookwire General Manager.

Marc Radermacher, Managing Director at EMS, enlarges on the subject. “The contract with Bookwire is, to our mind, a further indicator that our business model pursues the right path. e books represent a very interesting market and one that is just beginning to take off. As a digital services provider it is essential that we be able to accept and deliver every media format. It goes without saying that we at Bookwire have already been approved for cooperation with the Apple iBookstore.”

Appearing together in their presentation of the entire EMS portfolio are Managing Directors Marc Radermacher and Irmin Wiechmann together with Alex Maiwald, Head of Operations. At the Popkomm 2010 they will be found at the VUT Booth, number A2-01A.

EMS enlists Alexander Maiwald

EMS enlists Alexander Maiwald

9th June 2010 | Alexander Maiwald, most recently employed as regional manager for Germany, Switzerland and Austria at 7digital, is reinforcing the team at Encoding Management Service in Leverkusen. There he assumed the post of Head of Operations on June 1, 2010.

At the beginning of the year de_zwei_drei spun off into a separate company the highly successful spectrum of services associated with ripping, encoding and delivering digital media content to download shops and aggregators. This gave birth to Encoding Management Service - EMS GmbH. With the expansion of the company its founders – Marc Radermacher, Irmin and Levin Wiechmann – are responding to the success of their services in a market that continues to grow.

“We are quite happy to be taking on, in the person of Alexander Maiwald, a thoroughly competent professional who is well known in the field. He has proven his capabilities in digital business and, with his background, is exactly the right source of inspiration at the interfaces between sales, the shops and our services portfolio,” according to Marc Radermacher, Managing Director at EMS GmbH.

Alexander Maiwald is certainly no stranger to the music industry. After completing his apprenticeship as publishing assistant at the beginning of the 1990s he held a variety of positions in a number of companies. Those assignments included label manager, promotions chief and project manager. Among his new tasks, in addition to maintaining and expanding operative business, is to further develop the EMS platform. Close cooperation with the development and programming team at de_zwei_drei GmbH ensures quick and expert implementation both when expanding performance capabilities and when establishing new formats and platforms.

“I am very pleased to be joining this team,” Maiwald noted when asked about his new duties. “That’s because, in my most recent position, I was greatly impressed by the top quality found in EMS products and services. I feel it a privilege to be able to contribute to the company’s growth.”

iTunes LP - yes we can!

iTunes LP - yes we can!

26th January 2010 | For the first time from Germany: two Fettes / Brot albums released in the very new “iTunes LP” format.

Fettes Brot are the first German artists ever to release their brand new twin albums “Fettes” and “Brot” in iTunes latest feature format “iTunes LP” on Feb. 26th.

Next to the music (15 respectively 16 songs), this format features additional content: the official “Jein” and “Kontrolle” video clips plus their making ofs, lyrics, booklet picture galleries, album credits, as well as a Fettes / Brot propaganda exhibition can be used (similar to a DVD-navigation menu ) exclusively by customers of this iTunes-programme.

The smart and trans-modern Pop Art design for this iTunes-premiere, developed by Stefan Kassel and Fettes Brot producer André Luth, got transcribed ingeniously by the Wiechmann brothers Irmin and Levin (de_zwei_drei) from Leverkusen.

The band’s long standing digital music distributor, Zebralution (MD: Kurt Thielen) is thrilled about this coup for Fettes Brot due to the fact that “iTunes follows the bands’ dual strategy of releasing two albums on one day” (quote: Bettina Wohlgefahrt, Zebralution).
